What do you want for Christmas?

More from Brennan Manning . . .

"I wonder if we were to stop people at random on the street on December 24 and ask them what they want most for Christmas, how many would say: 'I want to see Jesus?' . . .

I believe the single most important consideration during the sacred season of Advent is intensity of desire.

Paraphrasing Rabbi Abraham Heschel, 'Jesus Christ is of no importance unless he is of supreme importance.'

An intense inner desire is already the sign of his presence in our hearts. The rest is the work of the Holy Spirit.”

Reflection:

Take a few moments to reflect on these words: “Jesus Christ is of no importance unless he is of supreme importance.”

Supreme Importance

Better than anything you could ever desire, want, or need.

Sit quietly and ask God to reveal to you any desires you have that are greater than your desire for Him. Confess to Him and ask Him to increase your desire for Him. Ask Him to help you truly believe that Jesus is better.

Jesus is better!

Make that your prayer today. May this be the way you live your life today.  Listen to this song while you sit with the Lord today and be blessed.
